Tamara Nyirenda

My name is Tamara Nyirenda, and I come from Lusaka, Zambia. I’m the second of four sisters, and I spent part of my childhood in Nigeria and Ghana, where my father worked. Living in different countries has broadened my perspective and made me more appreciative of diverse cultures.

During my time at African Christian University from 2018 to 2022, I pursued a degree in business administration. However, my true passion lies in the arts, creativity, and Classical Christian Education. In my free time, I enjoy crafting handmade jewelry and volunteering with different organizations or projects. Currently, I’m volunteering with Campus Outreach on other universities as a mentor/discipler to young women who are in university.

My interest in Classical Christian Education blossomed when I became a Christian. I was eager to integrate my faith into my studies and work, seeking a biblical worldview. At African Christian University, I gained valuable knowledge, but I’m now eager to deepen my understanding at New Saint Andrews College.

Learning about New Saint Andrews College and its commitment to classical Christian education and liberal arts from the ACU’s scholar week fueled my desire to engage with the world as a Christian. I’m excited to explore how I can effectively live on this earth according to God’s intentions, fully embracing our world and its challenges.

With my knowledge in classical Christian education, I hope to use it in teaching those younger than me, either with my own children Godwilling, and also with the women I have been mentoring. Additionally, I aspire to work with African Christian University or any other institution that hopes to utilize classical Christian education or liberal arts, further spreading the values and principles I hold dear.

In addition, I aim to utilize the knowledge I acquire to contribute positively to cultural change to the best of my abilities. I firmly believe in the continuous journey of learning, and what better way to embrace it than by mastering the art of learning itself?
